Art Therapy

Art Therapy

The Family Center is pleased to announce that we will now be offering Art Therapy groups for teen girls.

Our group is based on the belief that the creative process involved in the making of art is healing and life-enhancing. Art therapy is the therapeutic use of art-making within a professional relationship by people who experience illness, trauma, or challenges in living, and by people who seek personal development.

Psychology Today defines art therapy as the application of the visual arts and the creative process within a therapeutic relationship to support, maintain, and improve the psychosocial, physical, cognitive, and spiritual health of individuals of all ages.

Research shows that art therapy can improve overall health, physical, emotional and cognitive functioning, interpersonal skills, personal development, and quality of life.
